The Latte Budget participates in affiliate marketing programs, which means I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
One question I get asked quite a bit is how to make money blogging.
I guess it is kind of a personal question, but it doesn’t bother me. Since I love talking about money and business, I will gladly talk about this! I think it’s important to be transparent with you all on how I earn money through my blog.
You can earn money through blogging, too! If I can do it, anyone can. If you are interested in blogging, I’ll even help you to start your own blog in this post.
So, here are all of the ways I make money through blogging!
As you can see, I do have a few ads on my site! I know too many ads are annoying for viewers, so I try to keep them at a minimum. I love using ads, though, because they are so easy to add to my websites. And once I add them, there is nothing else I have to do so they are very passive.
Currently, I just use Google Adsense, which I highly recommend for any new blogger. Advertisements aren’t going to make you rich as a blogger, but since they don’t require any extra work, I think they are worth it. As my blog grows, I am planning to apply to different ad networks that will pay more.
Occasionally, I will partner with a brand and write content about their product or service. And they will pay me to do this! I always disclose when I accepted payment for a post and I only partner with brands that I actually recommend and have used myself.
I love doing partnerships because, if you know anything about me, I’m like the infomercial sales girl when I really love a product. I can be very picky about different products, so if it’s something I like, I am always happy to share!
For some products I love, I participate in their affiliate marketing networks. This means I get paid whenever I recommend a product and readers sign up with my referral link.
Again, I only do this with products I actually love. Plus, many times YOU will get a bonus if you sign up with one of my affiliate links. So I try to share the love.
For instance, here are a few of the affiliate links I often include (and highly recommend!):
CapitalOne 360 – They are my main bank for my personal and business use! My brother in law actually got me started with CapitalOnne 360 and I can’t recommend them enough. I get a 1% interest rate on my basic savings accounts with them, which is way higher than I can get at a traditional bank. And their website is so easy to use and the service is excellent!
Ibotta – I don’t use coupons because they are tedious and usually expire before I can use them. But I highly recommend Ibotta as an easy alternative to couponing. Ibotta is an app on your phone that gives you discounts on certain products from retailers such as Target, Walmart, regional grocery stores, and more. Plus, it’s fun to use!
Izea – For bloggers, Izea is a great and free platform that you can use to find brand partnership opportunities. I highly recommend Izea for any blogger!
Though freelance writing is somewhat separate from my blog earnings, I would not have been able to become a successful freelancer without starting a blog first. For anyone who is looking to supplement their income quickly, I highly recommend considering writing.

So, are you interested in blogging?
Honestly, I think everyone should start a blog about a topic that they are passionate about. It’s so easy to start and surprisingly easy to make money blogging.
I would not have been able to leave my well paying, but stressful job if it weren’t for the income I earn through blogging and freelance writing. Even if you love what you do, it’s always a good idea to create an additional income stream.
If you are interested in starting a blog, I highly suggest starting one today. You’ve got nothing to lose! You can start a blog for just a few dollars a month. If you are interested in starting a blog, you can read exactly how I did it here. I include step-by-step instructions on how to start one, even if you’re not a tech person (I’m not one, either!)
So that about covers it! Tell me, are you interested in starting a blog? If you already blog, how do you make money?
